 HOT STONES REFLEXOLOGY With temperatures beginning to drop, what better way to combat the effects than through hot stone reflexology? Combining your normal reflexology treatment with hot stones, is a great way to relax your body and calm your sense, improving. your sense of wellbeing and deep relaxation. In hot stone reflexology, stones are used to heat the body, massaging your legs and then we work with hot stones and fingers to heat and manipulate the reflex areas on your feet, inducing a deep sense of relaxation. The heat penetrates the muscle tissue allowing your reflexologist to work your reflex points deeply, which aids healing, the heat allows the reflexology to penetrate up to five times deeper than with a touch only reflexology session. The benefits of hot stone reflexology include:

  • heat penetrates to a much deeper level than finger pressure and may reach up to 7-8cms into the superficial layer of muscle. This brings about physiological changes as well as improving energy flow;

  • improved blood circulation & lymphatic drainage;

  • promotes the release & elimination of toxins;

  • boosts immunity and the lymphatic function;

  • relieves tension in connective tissues;

  • reduces muscular tension which will help muscles to relax and repair more efficiently;

  • it is warming, deeply relaxing & soothing helping to melt away any tension or anxiety;

  • helps to bring about a balance of body as well as mind.

MAGNESIUM SUPPLEMENTS Wondering if magnesium can really help you sleep? Eight hours sleep is not as easy as it sounds, some of us lie awake at night, struggling to switch off, maybe due to screen time, racing thoughts, a busy schedule or taking care of children, therefore a lot of people are now turning to supplements to help with getting to sleep, magnesium being reported as something that can help aid sleep. First up, what is magnesium? Magnesium is an essential mineral that plays a role in helping our bodyies turn fo od into energy and supporting the nervous system. The recommended daily amount being 300mg for men and 270mg for women. Magnesium can be found ina variety of foods such as spinach, nuts, fish, meat and wholemeal bread. So, can magnesium help with sleep? Some studies suggest magnesium can help with sleep, and other research has found it may help regulate melatonin (a hormone produced by your body when it’s dark to help bring on sleep). Evidence from these studies is very limited, however, and more work needs to be done to draw any definite conclusions about its effectiveness as a sleep aid, however magnesium does play a role in regulating muscle contractions by acting as a natural calcium blocker to help muscles relax. And there are many other proven benefits which can help maintain our overall wellbeing.

FEELING THE COLD? We are now at that time of year when there are more colds and flu viruses about, so we all have a greater chance of catching something, this season where there is more shopping to be done, socialising to be enjoyed it’s a time when energy levels can be depleted before Christmas actually arrives, when the day itself arrives and we unwind and relax our bodies crash and results in many of us tending to pick up colds or viruses. To help alleviate this, reflexology can play its part in helping boost your immune system and allowing your body to fight off the colds and flu viruses. With just over a month to go now here are my tips to help you maintain your energy levels in the run up to Christmas:

  • Get enough rest.

  • Plan ahead – for work, socialising and everyday tasks.

  • Try to keep things in perspective, Christmas is one day and it doesn’t have to be perfect, perfect is too much pressure for anyone!

  • Eat well.

  • Take those Vitamins, especially C and D at this time of year.

  • Make some time for yourself to help your body cope better with the stresses and strains. ALL THINGS CHRISTMAS

Christmas is a time for giving, and what better gift to give your loved ones than the gift of self-care? Self-care is essential for everyone’s mental, physical, and emotional well-being. It’s about taking the time to nurture yourself and to do things that make you feel good. Self-care is far from indulgent and allowing space for it in our lives is a valuable for long-term stress management. Creating space for self-care could be lighting a fragranced candle in the evening, whilst enjoying your favourite podcast, to unwinding in a long, warm bath to ease the stresses of the day. Whatever the activity, enjoying something that makes you and your loved ones feel great is crucial to support your well-being.
